About

WHO WE ARE: A collective group of financial aid professionals who provide quality training and development opportunities to association members.

WHAT WE DO: Each year we conduct a series of training and professional development opportunities ranging from in-person workshops, new professionals sessions, and leadership training that cater to the needs of financial aid administrators.

Some recent events facilitated by the Professional Development Committee include:

New Professional Track offered at the annual conference: A comprehensive training track that outlines core fundamentals of financial aid. This track provides an overview of topics essential for new professionals. This training track is offered during annual WASFAA Conference. Registration information is available when the WASFAA Conference registration opens.
A biennial leadership retreat aimed at recognizing the potential of financial aid administrators within their offices and in WASFAA. The participants within the WASFAA Leadership Retreat focus on developing leadership skills, change analysis, personality, and other leadership qualities.
Historically, leadership retreat graduates have advanced personally and professionally while becoming involved in WASFAA by fulfilling roles like Committee Co-chairs, members of the Executive Board, or Presidents of WASFAA. This opportunity is rewarding and strongly recommended for those who desire to be an aspiring leader in the future.
